Amber Christiansen, your AdWord Specialist, recently took a course that focused on the dynamics of team work. To demonstrate the effectiveness of teamwork, the class was divided into three groups. Each group was given a raw egg, fifteen drinking straws, and six feet of tape. The goal was to keep the egg unbroken from a six foot drop.
In the end, each group used a different process to design the safety net for their egg. One group had a power struggle and ended up putting the design decision to a vote. The second group listened to one individual and worked with his ideas. The third group spent 75% of their time brainstorming and tossing ideas out, and the remaining 25% of their time building their winning protective egg structure.
The act of brainstorming and working as a team is what won the competition. Collective thoughts and actions are generally more powerful than a single person’s ideas. We can use this concept in our day-to-day business operations. It is important for us to share our successes and failures. It is also important to brainstorm with one another, as you may have a million dollar idea that someone else will know how to execute. By working together, we can become more successful than any one of us alone can ever be.
The next brainstorming CAMPA Conference Call is Thursday, March 5th at 12:00 pm.
